Travel Essentials

Hello Globetrotters!

Spring/Summer break is right ‘round the corner and it’s what we’ve all been waiting for.

Though travelling can be easy and spontaneous for some it can be stressful for others.

If you’re looking for a travel checklist for a smooth flight, I’ve got you covered. Here’s a compilation of a few basic essentials for your carry-on while flying light.

Comfort

This is the first thing we can think of while hovering more than 20,000 ft above home ground. A cashmere jumper and a pair of socks will help you stay warm and cozy during cold and sterile flight conditions.

Socks: Puma
Cashmere Jumper: Marks & Spencer

Sleep

A neck pillow is an absolute necessity when you’re planning to get some shut-eye (unless you want to clumsily rest on your seat-mate’s shoulder and irk them).

And to arrive looking well-rested you’d need a sleeping mask to turn out the lights and be off on a long slumber.

Memory Foam Pillow: Travel Mate

Hydration

Climatic conditions on a flight can get bitter and sharp at times, stripping moisture off our skin. Face creams, hand creams and lip balms can easily address these issues by keeping parched skin hydrated. If you can’t find your preferred cream in a travel size, transfer them to travel-friendly bottles, keeping it light and preventing leakage.

Lip Balm: The Body Shop
Hand Therapy: Crabtree & Evelyn
Hand Recovery: Crabtree & Evelyn

Hygiene

A PocketBac hand sanitizer is totally essential to get rid of the germs you come in contact with in public places (especially if you have OCD like I do).

Don’t forget to pack your toothbrush and toothpaste during long haul flights.

Make-Up Remover Wipes: Purederm
Hand Sanitiser: Bath & Body Works

Gum, tic-tac, fresh mints whatever you prefer to keep your breath fresh. But you gotta have ‘em on you girl!

Entertainment

An iPad to watch videos and listen to podcasts when in-flight entertainment is a disappointment.

A Kindle if you are a voracious reader. It is great for an extended trip where you don’t need a bunch of books weighing you down.

A phone is an absolute necessity to stay connected with loved ones and to keep them updated with your travel status.

Carry a portable charger as a back-up when your gadgets need more juice.

Don’t forget to plug in your earphones to avoid ruffling some feathers. You could also switch to noise cancelling headphones if yelling kids are the last thing you wish to hear when you’re in la la land.

Portable Charger: Mi
Earphones: Apple

Aesthetics

You might need a hair brush to tame your mane and a mirror to keep it in check.

A perfume atomiser to carry your favourite perfume in a travel size and some basic make-up like lipstick and mascara to arrive at your destination with a half-decent face.

Lipstick: Sephora
Mascara: Chambor

And obviously, a wallet for your cash and credit cards. Always make it a point to have both local currency as well as home currency for unforeseen circumstances.

You’d need a pair of sunglasses to reach out for, if you’re getting off the aircraft on a rather sunny afternoon or at a tropical locale.

Wallet: Michael Kors
Sunglasses: Aldo

Check-In

Lastly, the most important thing that you can’t travel without, literally, i.e. your travel documents like passport, ticket, visa, medical insurance preferably tucked in a file and a pen to fill out forms.

Bon Voyage
